Re:amaze alternatives for Shopify and ecommerce support
Updated November 6, 2026
Re:amaze is a per-seat ecommerce helpdesk with Shopify order actions and per-resolution AI. Here are five Re:amaze alternatives and how to choose between them.
Re:amaze is an ecommerce helpdesk: one inbox for email, chat, social, and (on higher plans) SMS and voice, with Shopify and BigCommerce integrations and an AI agent built in. For many Shopify stores it is a sensible middle ground between a bare chat widget and a heavyweight helpdesk. People search for Re:amaze alternatives when the per-seat price adds up, when the AI resolution allowance runs out, or when they're unsure whether they need a full helpdesk at all. This guide explains how Re:amaze is priced, lists five alternatives with honest fit, and says when you should stay.
What Re:amaze is. Re:amaze describes itself as an AI-powered customer service and AI agent platform for ecommerce and online businesses. It brings email inboxes, live chat, social channels, an FAQ, macros, chatbots, and Cues (proactive messages) into one place. The Shopify integration is strong: agents can view orders, see fulfillment and refund details, pin an order to a conversation, refund or cancel orders, and create draft orders for customers to pay. Higher plans add multiple brands, live visitor view, SMS and voice, a status page, screensharing, departments, and CSAT ratings.
How Re:amaze pricing is shaped. As of November 2026, Re:amaze lists Basic at about $29, Pro at about $49, and Plus at about $69 per team member per month, with about 10% off for annual billing, month-to-month contracts, and a 14-day trial. There's also a Starter plan at about $59 a month flat for unlimited team members, limited to 500 responded conversations a month. The AI Agent, labeled beta, is included on Basic, Pro, and Plus with 5, 10, or 20 resolutions per user per month, and each additional resolution is about $0.85.
Why people look for Re:amaze alternatives. The per-seat model is fair when every seat answers tickets all day. It's less fair when you have seasonal staff, or a few people who only reply occasionally. The AI allowance is the second pressure point: at 10 included resolutions per user on Pro, a three-person team gets 30 a month, and the overage is billed per resolution, so a good month for the AI is a bigger invoice. Third, multiple brands and SMS sit on Pro and above, so multi-store sellers often land on the middle tier by necessity.
1. Gorgias. The most Shopify-native helpdesk and Re:amaze's most direct rival. Gorgias prices by ticket volume rather than by seat: Basic is about $50 a month on annual billing ($60 monthly) for 300 tickets, Pro about $300 a month annually for 2,000 tickets, with per-ticket overage. Its AI Agent is about $0.90 per automated interaction on an annual contract ($1.00 monthly), and each AI interaction also counts as a ticket. The page showed two different price sets, so confirm with Gorgias. Pick it if deep order actions in tickets are your team's daily work and your volume justifies it.
2. Help Scout. A calmer, email-first helpdesk with a free plan (5 users, 1 inbox, 1 Docs site, 100 contacts a month). Paid plans are about $25 per user a month on Standard and $45 on Plus. AI Answers is billed at about $0.75 per resolution, with a monthly spending cap you can set. Help Scout fits brands that care about thoughtful, well-written email support more than chat speed; it is not as order-centric as Re:amaze or Gorgias.
3. Freshdesk. A full ticketing helpdesk at per-agent prices: Growth about $19, Pro about $55, and Enterprise about $89 per agent a month, billed annually. Freddy AI Agent includes 500 sessions once per account, then about $49 per 100 sessions. Freshdesk makes sense if you expect to grow into automations, SLAs, and a larger team, and want room to scale within one vendor.
4. Zendesk. The heavyweight. Support Team is about $19 per agent a month annually ($25 monthly); Suite Team about $55 ($69 monthly); Suite Professional about $115 ($149 monthly). Each includes a few automated AI resolutions per agent, then about $1.50 each committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go. It's overkill for most single-store Shopify brands, but the right choice for larger operations with many channels, regions, and compliance processes.
5. ZChat. ZChat is the AI-first, flat-priced option. Its AI answers from your website crawl (including your policy and FAQ pages), files, help-center articles, and Q&A pairs, says it doesn't know rather than inventing a return policy, and hands the shopper to a person in the same thread. It reads images and PDFs customers attach. For Shopify, it offers order lookup and an order sidebar. Pricing is $29 per seat a month with managed AI (5,000 AI messages a month per workspace) or $15 per seat with your own AI key, with no per-resolution fees; past the limit, new chats go to your team.
Where ZChat doesn't fit. ZChat can't cancel, refund, or return orders, or build carts, from inside a conversation, and it has no multi-brand storefront setup like Re:amaze's Pro plan. If your agents spend their day refunding and cancelling Shopify orders in tickets, Re:amaze or Gorgias will save more clicks than any AI.
A comparison checklist for ecommerce helpdesks. Score each candidate on: (1) which order actions agents can take without leaving the ticket: view, refund, cancel, edit, draft orders; (2) how AI is billed: per resolution, per interaction, per session, or flat; (3) your peak-season cost, using last November and December's volume; (4) how part-time or seasonal staff are priced; (5) number of stores or brands supported per plan; (6) which channels you need, including SMS; and (7) what the shopper sees when the AI hands off.
A worked example. A three-person team on Re:amaze Pro pays about 3 × $49 = $147 a month on monthly billing and gets 30 AI resolutions. If the AI resolves 300 conversations in December, the extra 270 at about $0.85 add roughly $230, bringing that month to about $377. On ZChat, three managed-AI seats are $87 a month regardless of how many conversations the AI resolves, within the 5,000 monthly AI messages. The comparison only matters if the AI actually handles that volume, so test it on your real questions first.
When to stay with Re:amaze. Stay if your agents refund, cancel, and create draft orders from tickets daily; if you run multiple brands in one account; if you use SMS, voice, the status page, or screensharing; or if the Starter plan's flat price covers you under 500 responded conversations a month. Re:amaze bundles a lot for its price, and the AI resolution allowance may simply be enough.
How to switch. Export your macros and FAQ first; they become your new tool's knowledge base. Turn your top return, shipping, and sizing answers into help articles or Q&A pairs. Run the new AI against last month's real questions. If you rely on order actions, rehearse your five most common order tasks in the new tool before cutting over. Switch outside peak season, never in the run-up to Black Friday.
Re:amaze charges per team member and includes 5-20 AI resolutions per user, then about $0.85 per extra resolution.
Compare ecommerce helpdesks on order actions inside tickets, AI billing basis, and your peak-season bill.
If agents refund and cancel Shopify orders all day, staying on Re:amaze or moving to Gorgias beats an AI-first chat tool.
