Proactive engagement

Proactive live chat and chat triggers

A chat button waits to be clicked. A proactive trigger reaches out first. With ZChat you can show a targeted message on the pages that matter - pricing, checkout, a key product page - and point it at the right department, so the conversation starts at the moment a visitor is most likely to have a question.

Target by page

Each trigger matches on the page URL, so a message only appears where it's relevant. Invite questions on the pricing page without interrupting someone reading your blog.

Your message

Write the greeting each trigger sends - a short, specific invitation that fits the page. Keep it helpful rather than pushy, and change it whenever the page or offer changes.

Route to a department

Point a trigger at the team that should answer. A checkout-page nudge can go straight to sales; a docs-page offer can reach support - the visitor lands with the right people.

Where a proactive message earns its keep

A trigger per page, each with its own message and department.

Page A message that fits Route to
Pricing "Questions about which plan fits? Ask us here." Sales
Checkout "Need a hand finishing your order? We're right here." Sales
Documentation "Stuck on setup? A support engineer can help." Support
Account / billing "Billing question? Chat with our accounts team." Billing

Helpful, not pushy

Reach out at the right moment

Proactive chat works best as an offer of help, not a popup on every page. Because a trigger only fires where its URL rule matches and you decide which triggers are on, you can be present exactly where visitors hesitate - and stay out of the way everywhere else.

You control

Which pages a trigger matches, the message it sends, the department it routes to, and whether it's enabled at all.

Self-hosted

Triggers run on your own ZChat server, so visitor activity and messages stay in your infrastructure.

What is proactive live chat?
Proactive live chat starts the conversation for you. Instead of waiting for a visitor to click the chat button, ZChat can show a message automatically when a visitor is on a page you choose - for example a pricing or checkout page - inviting them to ask a question.
How do chat triggers decide when to show a message?
Each trigger matches on the page URL. When a visitor is on a page whose address matches the trigger's URL rule, ZChat shows that trigger's message. You can enable or disable each trigger and route it to a specific department.
Can I send different messages on different pages?
Yes. Create one trigger per page or section - a pricing-page invite, a docs-page offer of help, a checkout-page nudge - each with its own message and, if you like, its own department. Only the trigger whose URL rule matches the current page fires.
Does proactive chat force a popup on every visitor?
No. A trigger only shows on pages that match its URL rule, and you control which triggers are enabled. On pages with no matching trigger, the widget stays in its normal launcher state until the visitor opens it.
